Summer Time is the Best Time
Today, I'd like to share a layout I created for this month's Stampendous Saturday Challenge. It's a layout about the wonderful day we had when my dad taught my son how to fly a kite. He surprised my son with a beautiful butterfly kite so they spent most of the day in the backyard, laughing and carrying on. It was a good day.
June's theme is summer. Simply create a summer themed project of some sort and add the direct link for your project to the collection on the Stampendous blog. You have until Thursday, June 28 at 11:59 PM EST. One lucky crafter (drawn at random) will receive this fabulous new Friendly Phrases Perfectly Clear stamp set:
You don't have to use Stampendous products on your project but if you do use them, your entry will count twice, which increases your chance of winning. Due to shipping restrictions, the winner must have a US address.
It would be terrific if you would join in the fun and play along with all of us.
Please check out the Stampendous blog on Saturday for a roundup of all the great summer projects created this week by Stampendous Design Team members.
To create my layout, I started by stamping both butterflies from the Stampendous Cling Jumbo Butterfly Pair set randomly on the patterned paper using VersaMark ink. I also inked the edges of the orange panel with VersaMark and then sprinkled it with Stampendous Aged Gold Embossing Enamel. After heat setting, I adhered the orange panel to the base of the layout. Next, I stamped the butterflies on Stampendous Thermo Acetate using VersaMark ink and then embossed them in Stampendous Midnight Black Embossing Powder. I am very sad because Thermo Acetate is no longer being manufactured.
I am sad because it is an amazing product, a thick, high-quality acetate that you can ink, stamp and emboss without warping and melting. If you see this great product at your local store, snag it and then be prepared to fall in love. My hope is that if enough people ask, Stampendous will bring it back. I fussy-cut the butterflies and then colored them with alcohol ink. Next I sprinkled them with Aged Gold Embossing Enamel (no glue or ink necessary) and heated them from underneath to melt the enamel. I wish I was a better photographer so you could see all of the shimmer and shine.
